Just ate at the OH-GEE this weekend! One of the best parts about going to Olive Garden is the unlimited breadsticks and the salad!   Sure, they don't taste like gourmet garlic breadstick awesomness... But this is 'Merica Jack! We like unlimited!

But one of Olive Garden's main investors is a company called Starboard Value, and they just released a 300-page PowerPoint presentation on everything that's wrong with Olive Garden.  Starboard's goal is to take control of Olive Garden's board and fix it.

Now, that being said. We can all see that the genius at Starboard Value doesn't have an off switch, because Starboard has found that one of Olive Garden's BIGGEST PROBLEM's is... FREE BREADSTICKS.  They say servers are only supposed to give the table one breadstick per person, plus an extra, then only refill the basket when they're all gone.

But servers have been giving out extra breadsticks, and that's a problem, because after seven minutes on the table, quote, "the breadsticks deteriorate in quality."  Then they go to waste, and that cost adds up.

The presentation also calls out the quality of the breadsticks today versus how they were in the '90s.  Quote, "The lower-quality refined flour breadsticks served today are filled with more air and have less flavor, similar to hot dog buns."

One other revelation from the presentation:  Olive Garden doesn't salt the water it uses to cook its pasta, which is a staple at virtually every Italian restaurant to make the pasta taste good, because no salt means the pots last longer.
