It's pretty rare when you have a group of guys who not only wrote their own hit song, but also wrote #1 hits for other stars including Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Tyler Farr, and The Band Perry. But that's part of the Old Dominion story.  The guys are co-hosting 'Country Countdown USA' Sunday night 7-10pm on 98.1 The HAWK!

Listen in Sunday night to the HAWK as the group's Trevor Rosen shares the story behind "Sangria," the latest Blake Shelton #1. "What many people don't know is that song was originally recorded by Kenny Chesney for his last album. It didn't make the final cut. Blake didn't know that Kenny had it first. He told me he was glad he didn't know, because he probably wouldn't have recorded it."

Kenny Chesney may have passed on "Sangria," but he picked "Save It For a Rainy Day." That song was written by Matt & Brad. And now, Old Dominion spent the entire year playing stadiums with Kenny's Big Revival Tour. Matt said, "We learned so much. We played with him every Saturday. It was amazing. We soaked in everything we could."

The band will share some of the highlights of the tour so far and talk about their new album that hit stores and itunes today, Friday.  It's called 'Meat And Candy,' and the guys recall how they came up with the album's unusual name: "It was a group effort. We were trying to figure out which songs were going to cut. The first list was a lot of ear candy. So we decided we needed some meat in there. Our producer said, 'You should just call the album Meat & Candy.' And we all were like, 'Yeah we should,' and we did."

Old Dominion also has great stories this week about Dierks Bentley, Tyler Farr, Sam Hunt, and Cole Swindell.
