The Binghamton Rumble Ponies do so much for out community. They put a great product on the field but in my opinion what they do off the diamond is more important.

Last night (5/16) was "We Care Wednesday" at NYSEG Stadium and the Ponies along with Make-A-Wish Central New York surprised 13 year old Madelyn "Maddie" Shaw. Before the first pitch, they revealed that Maddie had her wish granted of going on a family vacation to the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana.

She thought she was going to the game as a "Honorary Play Ball Kid of the Game." She and her parents walked onto the field and she was asked to look at the scoreboard and was supposed to start the game by saying "Play Ball." The scoreboard lit up and let her know that her wish came true and her family would be going to the Nickelodeon Resort.

Maddie has been battling Ewing's Sarcoma which is a form of cancer that grows in bone or soft tissue. This summer, her family will enjoy a special week long stay at the resort which has a water park, open air theater and a lot of Nickelodeon characters.

Maddie’s wish is one of 134 wishes that Make-A-Wish Central New York has going for kids with critical illnesses and 25 of these wishes are for kids between the ages of 2 and 18 living in the Southern Tier.
