UPDATE 10/21/14:  We've just received word that Colton was able to get on a different flight and will be home TONIGHT (10/21) rather than TOMORROW (10/22). Colton's parents were unable to give us further information regarding his flight arrival time tonight. So, if you were planning to welcome him tomorrow, know that he'll already be home.

Whether a military member has served in a war zone or in a peaceful area overseas, it doesn’t matter to us. At the Hawk, we strongly believe that every returning military member should know that they are loved and appreciated. They should know that their homecoming is a time when political opinions are put aside and a unified front is formed out of respect and admiration for them giving of themselves.

We know this is last minute, but we've just received word that Whitney Point resident and United States Air Force Airman Colton Covill of the United States Air Force will return home this Wednesday, October 22nd after serving the past year in South Korea. Colton's flight is expected to arrive at the Syracuse airport at 10:30am.

We think it would be pretty amazing to surprise Colton by greeting him with cheers and applause at the Syracuse airport this Wednesday.

Colton's mom says:

Our son, Colton, has been in the U.S. Air Force for 6 years now. He has participated in two deployments (Iraq and Afghanistan). This latest deployment was so very difficult as it kept him from "home" for a full year. We cannot wait to welcome Colton home and have him in our arms.

Imagine how much it would mean to Colton to walk down the hall at the Syracuse airport  and turn the corner to see a large group of people waiting for him as he comes home, clapping and cheering and thanking him for his selflessness. If you plan on standing in support of Colton, please feel free to wear patriotic type clothes, wave flags and make welcome home signs and please plan on arriving around 10am just in case his flight runs a bit early. Since we don't know his flight number, we recommend that you hang out in the baggage claim area.

If you know of a military member returning home, please let us know about them here:
