It's the final home game of the season for the GBFC Thunder soccer team and it's going to be big on several counts. It's for a playoff berth and a local soccer legend is retiring.

They need to win at home tonight against Buxmont at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex. Then they travel to Buxmont for a Sunday afternoon game. If they win both, they are guaranteed 2nd place and a playoff berth in the Northeast Region playoffs.

It's also Chris Riley's Farewell home game. He is retiring at the end of this season. Chris is a hometown soccer hero that currently lives in Endwell and is a co-founder of the GBFC Thunder.

Chris began his professional soccer career with the Charleston Battery (South Carolina) of the USL Pro League in 2005. After a year with the Albany Blackwatch of the PDL, Chris moved up to the USL, the third tier professional league in the USA.

In 2006, Chris moved closer to home as he played for the Wilmington Hammerheads (North Carolina). He will now end his soccer career with the Thunder. There will be a halftime ceremony honoring Chris.

Kick-off is at 6pm with Nicole Artus singing the National anthem. She's a CV grad working on her masters in music. You may have heard her sing before at the B-Mets games.

After they win both games, they will play an away game on Saturday 7/18 and winning that will move onto the NE Region Semifinal on Wednesday 7/22. The NE Region final will be on 7/25.

Tonight's game will be the NPSL Game of the week and will be featured on the NPSL website and Binghamton Press.

Come and enjoy one of the country's fastest growing sports tonight. LET'S GO THUNDER!
