Facebook is now helping to find missing children by pushing Amber Alerts into the news feeds of its users. Facebook has developed a program, teaming up with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC),that hit our smartphones last Tuesday.

"When a child goes missing, the most important thing is getting out the relevant information, the correct information, to the right people at the right time,"  said Emily Vacher, Facebook's Head of Global Safety. (USA TODAY)

Facebook has had special pages for Amber Alerts for a long time (January 2011) with notifications being issued when a child goes missing. The new setup  will automatically push the alerts to people who are near the search area, sending them a post about the missing child, with pictures. The alerts will go to computers and mobile. We only need to click "Learn More" for the details and to share.

So... Now if you see an Amber Alert... You are in the area. EYES PEELED!
