I love my new apartment, but there's a problem.  There's no light switch in the doorway where I walk in- it's all the way in the back of the kitchen.  So, when I get up at 2am and it's dark out, I have to fumble around in the dark to turn the light on to make coffee.

After a week of slapping the wall as I walked into the room thinking that's where the light switch is, only to be let down, I decided to do something about it. This weekend I braved Walmart (that place was a zoo!) and picked up some under cabinet lights.  Then I went to Big Lots where I found an outlet remote controller.  The remote controller has three outlet plugs that get plugged into their own outlet.  You've got to trust me when I tell you this is so simple to do.  I hung the lights under the cabinets and then plugged each into a remote controller outlet plug and velcroed the controller to the wall where I walk into the kitchen.  Now when I walk through the door I just push a button (or three) and the under the cabinet lights come on. And because the lights are halogen, they're better for the environment and for my wallet because it costs less to light them than it does a regular bulb.
