Blake Shelton admits that even he thought he and Gwen Stefani made an odd couple at first, but he says "it's been an eye opener" finding out how normal she really is.

Shelton made an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show on Friday (Dec. 2), and when the host asked if he minded discussing his relationship with the rock singer, he replied, "I love talking about Gwen ... are you kidding me?"

The couple met while they were both judges on The Voice, and they got together after they both ended their marriages at the same time. Much has been made of his country roots and her rock stardom, and while Shelton tells DeGeneres that he thought that could be a stumbling block at first, it's actually a perfect fit.

"It’s been just an eye opener to be with someone like her,” he states. "Believe it or not, I mean, you think Gwen Stefani and No Doubt, and she is literally maybe the most normal person that I’ve ever met in my life."

He adds, "It’s been good for me to be with somebody that’s so grounded and just a good human being with a great heart," but there's one more thing about Stefani that also attracts him to her.

“She’s hot. Have you seen her? I mean look at that," he says, to which DeGeneres replies with a joke.

“Oh, I didn’t notice,” she quips. “I just realized! Now that I look at her, she is attractive! I didn’t know.”

Shelton's most recent single is "She's Got a Way With Words," from his current album, If I'm Honest.
