The Binghamton Bearcats softball team split a doubleheader with the Maine Black Bears May 1 at the Bearcats Sports Complex.  Maine rolled to a 9-0 win in the first game but the Bearcats came back to take the nightcap 5-4 in 10 innings.  That victory earned Binghamton a spot in next week's America East Tournament.  It will be Binghamton's fourth trip to the post-season in the past five campaigns.

First baseman Taylor Chaffee and catcher Lisa Cadogan had big bats for the Bearcats in the second-game victory.  Chaffee ripped a three-run home run and Cadogan had a pair of RBI's to pace the offense.  Cara Martin earned the win in relief to up her record to 10-4.

With the split Binghamton's record overall is 19-18 and 9-6 in America East.  The Black Bears are 21-19 and 10-6 in America East action.  The teams meet tomorrow in a single game beginning at noon at BU.
