Thomas Clayton, a Binghamton native and former professional hockey player, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his wife Kelley in their home in the Town of Caton in Stueben County.  The Steuben County Sheriff's Office says deputies and state troopers responded to Thomas Clayton's home in Caton which is near the Pennsylvania border after a 9-1-1 call was received early Tuesday morning.  When police arrived they found Kelley Clayton unresponsive with severe facial trauma.

Police followed a number of leads and subsequently arrested Thomas Clayton and charged him with second-degree murder  He is being held in the Steuben County Jail without bail.  Clayton attended Niagara University and played hockey there before joining the Elmira Jackals to play professionally from 2001 - 2006. He tried out with Binghamton's AHL franchise but did not make it to the regular season.
