I'd like to tell you about a local lady named Betsy Gerner who is making a difference in our world.  Betsy was listening to The Hawk Morning show as Glenn and I were talking about Letters of Love for Sandy Hook Elementary and felt she needed to do something for the Newtown Community so she and her daughter went to Kohl's to buy a teddy bear to send to a child at Sandy Hook.

Betsy went to the customer service desk to tell them what she was doing because Kohl's has a Kohl's Cares program and she thought she might be able to get a discount so she could purchase even more teddy bears. Instead, the lady at the service desk gave her for free 32 stuffed lions for the Sandy Hook kids.  And then the lady told Betsy that she was going to spread the word to the people she knows so that they could participate in "Letters of Love." Betsy also sent an email to all of her friends asking them to write a letter because she feels it's the responsibility of our community to rally around the people of Newtown and show them our love.

In addition to the lions and prayer cards that Betsy dropped off, she's also offered to be one of my angels and help me hand-write the Letters of Love we've been receiving online for Sandy Hook. What an amazing woman!

My sincerest thanks to Betsy for her giving heart, to Kohl's for their big donation and to each of you who've not only written letters, but spread the word to your friends.

Letters of Love to Sandy Hook will be collected now through December 28th.  In additions to letters of love and encouragement, the Hawk will also mail out any gifts you might like to give to the children of Sandy Hook Elementary.  If you'd like to write a Letter of Love, feel free to use the form below.  Your letter will be hand-written by me or one of my angels and mailed to Newtown, Connecticut.
