According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Medical Association, the FBI and the Census Bureau, Vermont tops the list of healthiest states for the sixth consecutive year.

These findings are based on 24 measures of health, including tobacco and alcohol abuse, exercise, infectious diseases, crime rates, public health funding, access to immunizations, premature birth rates, cancer and heart disease rates.

Louisiana and Mississippi are tied for the least healthy state and have kept that "ranking" for the past 23 years.

New York State ranks at #18.  Broome County ranks toward the bottom of the New York counties, sitting at #56 out of 62 counties in the state.
