Southern Tier Flair Spicing Up 2022 MLB All-Star Festivities

By most accounts, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies haven't had the year that they were hoping for. There have been some highlights including my daughter, Tara working as an on-the-field hostess for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies...Okay, that's a personal highlight for me.

Probably the biggest highlight so far is the Rumble Ponies rehab start by pitcher, Max Scherzer in front of a sold-out Mirabito Stadium. His comments after the game causing a minor controversy and then ALL WAS FORGIVEN, when he treated the Rumble Ponies players to a $7,000 feast and new Air Pods.

So does that technically make him a Rumble Pony? If it does, then there are four former Binghamton ballplayers that have made this year's MLB All-Star Game. Here are the other three that will participate in the Midsummer Classic at Dodger Stadium.

Former Binghamton Rumble Ponies Players That Made The 2022 MLB All-Star Team

Pete Alonso - The "Polar Bear" is playing in his second MLB All-Star game and is a two-time Home Run Derby champion. He played first base for the Ponies during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Andres Gimenez - The shortstop is making his first MLB All-Star appearance with the Cleveland Guardians. He spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Jeff McNeil - The "Flying Squirrel" is making his second trip to the MLB All-Star game and was here in the Southern Tier for the 2018 season as a Binghamton Rumble Ponies utility infielder.

Congratulations to these former Ponies players on being selected to play in the 92nd All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 19th.
