A 75 year old man named Leonard Bullock and his wife Dorothy have lived across the street from a railroad yard in Pendleton, Oregon since 1982. And over the years, money has been tight and the last thing they could afford was to maintain their house.

A railway worker named Josh Cyganik has been waving to Leonard on his porch almost every day for the last four years, but never actually talked to him until last month, after he heard two teenagers making fun of the house.

They were poking fun at the man because the house looked so bad, saying someone should burn it down. Josh knew Leonard heard them too, when he saw the look on his face.

So a few days later, he asked Leonard if he and some friends could repaint the place for him, and got a hardware store to donate supplies. Then he posted about it on Facebook, and more than a hundred people showed up that Saturday to help.

They painted the house, fixed up the porch, made it wheelchair accessible and bought everything they need to replace the roof, which is still  under construction.

Josh says one of his friends drove by around 10:00 P.M. that night, and Leonard and Dorothy were both still out on the porch smiling. Good stuff.
