Young New Yorkers Joining the Global Wanderlust Trend
Can you feel the wanderlust vibes in the air? It seems like many young souls are considering saying "peace out" to the good old US of A in the next five years. That's right – 1 in 4 Millennials and Gen Zers are thinking about spreading their wings and taking off.
While most of us (around 65%) see the US as a heavyweight in the global economic ring, more than half of us are worried that things could take a nosedive on the economic front very soon. Not exactly the news we were hoping for.
So, what is their game plan? 87% of the future globetrotters are looking at the digital nomad lifestyle to fund their adventures abroad. Check this out – around 1 in 3 of their buddies have got jobs that are totally nomad-friendly.
It turns out that 70% of them want to snag a residency visa in a new place. So why the urge to ditch the Empire State for foreign lands? The top reasons pushing them towards the airport is the cost of living (over 50%), concerns about the local economy (36%), and, lets not forget about good old US of A politics (34%). Can’t say I blame you there.
Here's the mind-boggling part – Almost 70% of the young guns think the grass is greener somewhere else, believing that other countries have a better quality of life. My advice to the young guns is "the grass is greener where you water it" but that's a story for another day..
So it seems like the young souls in New York are looking at the bigger horizons, looking for a new beginning and wanting to get away from the everyday grind. Whether it's the promise of a fresh start, a chance to save some money or wanting to try something new, the call is getting louder every day.

As they navigate these dreams of a life beyond our backyard, it looks that change is the plan for many young New Yorkers. I know that's what my daughter is doing. Are we ready for this? Only time will tell.
