PHOTOS📷 Is This Catskills Motel the Most Unique in All of New York?
If you have a fantasy, the Roxbury Motel in the Catskills has probably already turned it into reality.
Nestled in the picturesque Catskill Mountains is New York's most unique lodging destination - the Roxbury Motel which isn't really even a motel.
Located in Delaware County at 2258 County Road 41 in Roxbury, the Roxbury Motel looks like your run-of-the-mill motel from the outside but one step through the doors and it becomes very clear that the exterior is hiding a very big inside secret.
The Roxbury Motel is a destination where each of its guest rooms and suites is fashioned out of fantasy - whatever your fantasy might be. Love the Wizard of Oz? Rest your head in the Wizard of Oz bed where a yellow brick road leads to a full wall mural of the Emerald City.
There's even a cottage that was inspired by the Indiana Jones movies. This cottage features secret passageways, Mayan temples, and Egyptian tombs.
If you want, you can even shower while tropical fish and Cleopatra's sarcophagus watch in the incredible Cleopatra's bedroom.
Who can forget the iconic Farrah Fawcett poster that so many boys grew up with on their bedroom walls? One of those little boys grew up "and created a steel sculpture of that hair and installed it as a canopy for a king-size bed so that he could sleep underneath Farrah" and you can, too in the Angel Hair room.
Greg Henderson and Joseph Massa bought the motel in 2003 and have worked tirelessly to renovate its original 11 rooms. They also added two multi-million dollar wings to the motel which brought the total number of rooms to 28. Oh, but they weren't done there. Henderson and Massa then added a spa to the property.
If you're looking for an escape to a place that's not too far from home and that will leave a lasting impression, there is no doubt that the Roxbury Motel will check off everything on your overnight stay wish list!
