"Mom, look! Isn't that bug so pretty?!?" My son and I were waiting for my in-laws at a New York Welcome Center and since we were early, we decided to kill some time by checking out the information center inside.

My son wasn't wrong, the bug certainly is pretty but looks can be deceiving. This particular bug is an invasive species known to threaten timber, plants, and more and is such a huge threat that the Welcome Center had an entire display of it and the importance of killing it on sight. The bug? The spotted lanternfly.
