What Do Glenn Pitcher and Steve Martin Have in Common?

If you haven't heard the big news, my daughter Tara is getting married this summer and I'm feeling old because I can't believe my little girl is about to become someone's wife. Good luck, Ayden.

It feels like yesterday that I was taking Riley and Tara onto the ice at the arena as I announced Chuck a Puck with them for the first time.

Now she is an emcee at the arena for some of the Binghamton Black Bears games (including this weekend) as the "woman in the stands." I blinked and she has grown up.

It had been a long time since I watched the movie "Father of the Bride" with Steve Martin but thinking about my daughter getting married caused me to watch it again. As I was watching it, I kept seeing similarities between me and Steve Martin's character. So, what do I have in common with Steve Martin (aka George Banks) in Father of The Bride?

Similarities Between Steve Martin and Glenn Pitcher

1. Neither one of us is really ready for our daughter to get married and start a new life outside of our home. We can't believe that our little girl is a grown woman.

2. Neither of us is really excited about footing the bill for our daughter's wedding but we both love our daughters so much that we will do whatever we can to make her day special.

3. Steve (George Banks) thinks that his daughter's rehearsal dinner would be great to have at a local rib joint but his daughter doesn't. I think my daughter's rehearsal dinner would be great at my favorite Chinese place. My daughter...not so much.

4. Steve (George Banks) hasn't dusted off his tuxedo in so long that it doesn't fit him anymore. Tuxedo? What is a tuxedo?

5. Steve (George Banks) can't help but look at his daughter in amazement on her wedding day. I know when I look at my daughter on her wedding day, I will have the same sense of amazement too

In all seriousness, I'm incredibly proud of my daughter and her fiancé, Ayden. I really don't mind footing the bill and I look forward to the next chapter in their life together. I'll be a bawling mess but I'm happy for both of them.

Items That Almost All Weddings Should Have

Wedding season is approaching, although some of the weddings that are happening, probably just got put together at the last minute, due to the now loosened restrictions. DJs, photographers, venus, and pretty much all wedding vendors have been extremely excited to hear the news. Now, let's be honest, I think there are going to be some people still a little nervous about taking off their masks, and I'm sure there are going to be some venus that is still gonna require it until New York State decides to follow the CDC guidelines. Before your big day arrives, there are some things you should make sure these items are on point.
