2020 is almost over and most of us thought that by now, we would be looking at some kind of "normal." That doesn't seem to be the case, in fact, some things look worse. There are gathering and traveling restrictions in New York, along with rising coronavirus cases across the country. It has many of us on edge.

Another problem that many didn't anticipate heading into 2020 was food insecurity. Food insecurity is affecting millions across the country and the Southern Tier.  Maybe you're fortunate and aren't in that situation and you want to help.

You can help the Foodbank of the Southern Tier with their next emergency food distribution. The Conklin Mobile Food Pantry is looking for volunteers at their Drive-Thru Mobile Food Pantry.

Because of Christmas, there is a date change and it'll be on Thursday, December 10th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Maine Community Center at 942 Conklin Road in Conklin. It includes some physical labor like packing food into bags, lifting bags, and carrying food.

You are asked to wear comfortable clothes, a mask, and close-toed shoes. There are many friendly faces that would love to meet you and you can go here to sign up as a volunteer.

Christmas is about giving and giving your time is one of the most important gifts that you can offer. It's just another way to make a difference for others that will make a difference in your life
