Village Comes to Bride’s Rescue, Saves Wedding Day

Just when our faith in humanity begins to waver, something like this happens and we find it restored once again.

Lucia Baratta and John Sessions of Seattle, Washington planned the perfect destination wedding in Scotland. But as we all know, sometimes there are hiccups in even the best laid plans, but for bride Lucia, the hiccup was a massive one. The unimaginable happened when her wedding dress and luggage went missing.

Lucia and John were staying at the Kirkwall Hotel in Scotland, and mentioned to the staff that the wedding dress was missing. What happened next is something straight out of a romance movie.

Hotel staff posted this message on the hotel's Facebook page: A Request for help!! We have a couple staying with us who are due to get married tomorrow afternoon. Their luggage has gone missing in transit, and she has no wedding dress, no wedding shoes, no wedding anything! Is there anyone that might be able to lend any of the above for an afternoon? The lady is 5 feet tall and a UK size 8. She wears a size 7.5 shoe.

People in the town responded in the most amazing way. Not only did they come up with 12 wedding dresses in her size and shoes to match, but they came up with every accessory imaginable including veils, tiaras, makeup and even flowers.

“The outpouring from the community has been incredible," said Lucia, who invited everyone who made her day possible to visit her in Seattle.
