Major Ice Cream Manufacturer To Expand Its Operations in Upstate New York
Wells Enterprises Inc., the owner of Blue Bunny ice cream brand, is expanding its ice cream production in Upstate New York.
The company announced plans to expand its Dunkirk plant, adding a 3,000-square-foot warehouse, a 20,000-square-foot refrigeration space, and a 12,000-square-foot mezzanine to support its growing production for the East Coast market.
According to the company’s announcement, the expansion will lead to more jobs in Upstate New York, including opportunities in maintenance, production, warehouse, and front office positions. The project is expected to cost around $4 million, and Wells Enterprises Inc. is said to be working with local and state officials to ensure that the expansion is fully funded.
The new facility will be a welcome addition to the region, which has seen a decline in manufacturing jobs over the past few years. Furthermore, increasing jobs in the local area doesn't only create economic opportunities but also brings hope and a sense of security to the local community.
Wells Enterprises' Director of Operations, Erin Hutcheon, said that the expansion project came about due to production needs and the company's desire to better serve its customers. Hutcheon added that the new infrastructure "will provide a significant increase in our production capabilities and efficiency and help us better meet the needs of our customers on the East Coast."

The ice cream and frozen dairy dessert market continues to grow, and demand for Blue Bunny products in the East Coast market is no exception. Expanding their infrastructure in the region to meet this growing demand seems to be a sensible decision.
