Two Charged in Binghamton Brew Pub Closing Violation

An owner of a downtown Binghamton craft brewery and an employee have been arrested after the business allegedly was operating in violation of state and city orders.

Authorities say police officers found several people drinking at the bar inside Water Street Brewing Company late Wednesday night.

According to police, when officers began to enter the business, employee Nicholas Hall interfered with them and told them to leave.

The officers returned with a supervisor to make sure the place was closed. They discovered loud music was still playing and people remained inside drinking.

Police say Kristin Andrascik identified herself as the owner of the establishment and claimed the people inside were employees. She allegedly refused to allow officers to enter.

Andrascik and Hall said they were aware of the COVID-19 directives but refused to close the business.

Both have been charged with obstructing governmental administration. Hall has been charged with violating a local state of emergency declaration. Police say more charges are possible.

The matter was referred to the New York State Liquor Authority.
