I was able to gain access to the scene of a triple tractor-trailer crash on 81 South in the Hospital Hill area shut down exits 2,3,4,5 on I81. One tractor-trailer had stopped and two others smashed into the back of each other causing a pile up, killing the middle tractor trailer driver. There's no information yet about the third tractor-trailer driver. However as you can see in the pictures, the third truck involved took a lot of damage to the drivers side.

This crash is awful. According to Binghamton Fire Department, the middle tractor trailer was carrying shredded paper products which combined with the severed fuel lines caused the blaze that produced billowing black smoke that could be seen in the sky since the beginning moments of 9am this morning(September 14th, 2016). The driver of the middle truck was trapped in the cab when the truck burst into flames and died in the fire.

None of the names of the drivers including the deceased who police have stated was a 26 year old Cortland County(Homer) man have been released yet.

UPDATE: Binghamton Police Department has identified and released the name of the 26 year old driver that perished in the three truck accident on 81 South yesterday a little after 9am. The drivers name was Phillip Miller, he lived in the village of Homer in Cortland County.

Photos of the crash are below.

Thoughts and prayers to Phillip's family and the other drivers families, and their loved ones.
