Federal prosecutors say 31-year-old Richard O’Hara of Glen Aubrey had an initial appearance in Federal Court in Binghamton last week to face charges that he attempted to coerce and entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Authorities say O’Hara allegedly responded to a public message on a social networking website and ended up communicating with an undercover law enforcement officer he had believed was a parent of a ten-year-old girl.

O’Hara reportedly promised the girl gifts if she had sex with him. He was arrested when he showed up at a house expecting to follow through on the arranged tryst.
