Stones Found in Popular Chocolate Sold in 153 New York State Stores
Imagine the joy of unwrapping your favorite chocolate bar, only to have that moment of bliss shattered by a sudden crunch that is not the smooth chocolate you were expecting.
One brand of chocolate, particularly popular with New Yorkers, has been the center of a recall due to a rather unexpected hazard lurking within.
The Unfortunate Chocolate Recall
Tony's Chocolonely Chocolate Bars, known for their rich flavors and eye-catching packaging, are now under scrutiny as they have been recalled for the potential presence of foreign material. And what exactly is this foreign material causing all the fuss? Small stones, of all things!
Precautionary Measures
While there have been no reported injuries associated with consuming the chocolate bars, Tony's Chocolonely Inc. of New York is taking proactive steps by voluntarily recalling two of its products to ensure consumer safety. The affected chocolate bars were distributed nationwide in retail stores, including in 153 stores across New York State, as well as through the company's website.
Identifying the Affected Products
If you've recently purchased Tony's Chocolonely Everything Bar or the Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt Candy Bar in the 6.35-ounce (180-gram) packaging, you must check the lot code/date pair/UPC numbers on the product label.
The impacted products feature specific codes, listed to narrow down the affected batches. Those codes are: 163094/2-Apr-26/858010005641, 162634/28-Feb-26/858010005641, and M162634/28-Feb-26/850011828908.
No other lot codes are included in this recall, and no other Tony’s products are affected.
The Stone Debacle
This unexpected recall stems from 12 consumer reports of small stones found in the chocolate bars. The undetected stones slipped through the filtration process during third-party almond harvesting and processing. It's worth noting that all incidents related to stone contamination occurred outside the United States and Canada.

What You Can Do
If you have purchased any of the recalled Tony's Chocolonely products, don't eat them. These bars should be disposed of or, you can return the products to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
