Glenn’s Throwback Thursday – Toby Keith
We are less then 80 days away from the Taste of Country Music Festival! Did you know that you could win 3 day passes to the event? You only have until April 6th so don't procrastinate.
Now, on to my Throwback Thursday or as I call this one, 'Toby Throwback Thursday'.
The year, I think was 1996. Toby's career had gotten off to a fast start in 1993 with his first song, Should've Been A Cowboy, going all the way to number 1! In fact, this was one of the songs that got me into country music to begin with. Maybe it was his mullet. That's right, he had a mullet.
Anyway, for 3 years the Pine Valley Campground had country music shows with the likes of Trace Adkins, Cledus T. Judd, Sons of the Desert, Michael Peterson, and yes,Toby Keith.
I had the opportunity to meet Toby and tell him that he was one of the reasons I got into country music. Sorry, I wasn't a country music fan until 1993. I was a fan of big hair bands before that. Sense a theme? Mullets, big hair.
If you're wondering what some of the other song's that got into country music, well wonder no longer. It was No Doubt About It by Neal McCoy, Money in the Bank by John Anderson, I'm Holding My Own by Lee Roy Parnell, Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die) by Joe Diffie and She Don't Know She's Beautiful by Sammy Kershaw.
Wow, they all had mullets in the 90's!
Well, I'm happy to say that Toby is still going strong today and you can win passes to the see him on June 14th at TOC Fest at Hunter Mountain! Good luck!
