Almost everyone in the Southern Tier knows someone or was personally affected by Hurricane Matthew. Isn't it great to know that their are people who can help us during these kind of disasters?

The Salvation Army is sending three trained Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) volunteers from the Empire State Division . They are Marie Cole from Sidney, Myrtle Whitcomb from Spencer and Joan Stevens from Batavia.

They will be working on site distributing cleanup kits, providing emotional and spiritual care, support and referral services to survivors.

The Salvation Army wants to thank everyone and let you know how grateful they are to everyone that has been supporting them. Monetary donations are the most critical need as supplies and personnel move into the areas of greatest need.

At this time, no donations of clothing are being accepted. If you'd like to help, you can donate online here. You can also call 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769).
