So many things happen when you become a parent. Sleep? What's that? Think you'll sneak into the bathroom alone? Think again. Want to wear clothing sans baby food, spit up and who knows what else? Nope.

But something else happens when you become a parent- your heart grows bigger than you ever imagined it could. When I was pregnant, people always told me I would take one look at my child and love him in ways I never dreamed possible. They were right. My son is my world and everything else can wait. There have been so many mornings that I've been rushing to get out the door for work and John's tiny voice has called out "Mama?" and not stopping for a five minute cuddle session isn't an option. My husband and my son come first in my life and since we've got such crazy schedules, I soak in every moment with them that I possibly can.

So, when I read the real reason Carrie Underwood chopped off her hair, I found myself liking her more than I already did. The reason? She did it for her son.

Carrie didn't cut her hair because her son asked her to because he's one. What one-year-old cares what their mom's hair looks like? Carrie cut her hair so that she could have more time with her boy.

Carrie sat down with Elle and told them, “I could spend half an hour to blow it dry and have it be super long, or I could spend that time playing with my son, and I'd much rather do the latter.”

Being a parent is all about making decisions based around your kids. I think it's admirable that Carrie wants to spend as much time with her son as she can. Let's be honest though- Carrie could shave her head and still be beautiful because her beauty comes from within, but that she puts her child above her grooming makes this mama proud of her decision and want to support her even more.
