New Golf Course In Owego With New Name

Well that didn't take long and from what I hear, it never really closed. In March, we learned that Pheasant Hill Country Club in Owego would be closing their doors. Pheasant Hill opened in 2008 and for the past 15 years, many of us enjoyed this challenging course with it's beautiful view. It was a great place for golf and other events like graduation parties and wedding receptions.

The good news is that the course has reopened under new ownership and with a new name. On Friday, April 7th, new owners Brian and Angela Richardson announced the grand opening of The Golf Club.

Angela is originally from Apalachin and graduated from Owego Free Academy in 2004. When she married Brian, she moved to his hometown of Hope, Indiana. In 2022, the Richardsons visited Owego to look for some land.

They were looking at some property near Pheasant Hill when they found out that it was for sale. After some discussions with the now former owners (David and Julia Springsteen), the rest was history and the Richardson family is calling the Owego area their new home.

The Golf Club In Owego's Grand Opening

The official grand opening for The Golf Club is set for Saturday, April 29th but the golf course is open now. The bar and kitchen is preparing for the re-opening and will keep some of the previous owners menu items. They will also have their own twist on new menu items too.

I want to say "thank you" to the Springsteen family for the 15 years of good memories and to the Richardson family, "good luck and can't wait to tee it up soon at The Golf Club." The grand opening will feature former New York Met catcher, Josh Thole from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Golf Club is located at 2771 Waits Road in Owego.

There are numerous "best golf course" lists circulating. These are proposed by popular golf magazines, websites, golf professionals, and others. Surprisingly, almost all of them agree on the best New York courses, with some moving one particular course up or down slightly in their rankings.

I like this list of Top 100 Golf Courses online in association with sports company TaylorMade. I like it because for each entry they also put a bit of course history in their comments section. Each of the top 25 golf courses in Upstate New York (in this gallery) have a link "to the list" so you can see other courses, not in Upstate, and where they ranked.
