Thanksgiving Tradition Continues at Binghamton High School

Binghamton High School students once again are volunteering to provide meals to area residents on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the city school district, this is the 25th consecutive year that students and staff will be providing a community dinner for the holiday.

This year's event is different because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Because a sit-down dinner in the high school cafeteria isn't possible because of health concerns, about 500 cold meals will be available for people to pick up.

Residents may walk up to the school's Oak Street entrance to obtain meals or drive up to the loading dock on the south side of the school.

Shuttle buses also will transport people to the high school from the Town & Country, Saratoga and Carlisle apartment complexes and from the former Weis store site on Main Street.

The meal distribution is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day at the high school, which is located at 31 Main Street.
