Syracuse Postal Carrier Indictment Marked "Return to Sender"

An indictment mailed to a letter carrier in Onondaga County reportedly was sent back to prosecutors marked "return to sender."

According to syracuse.com, the first attempt to notify 24-year-old Tanner Brown that he is facing a felony charge for allegedly discarding mail was unsuccessful.

Prosecutors eventually tracked down Brown, who now lives in Sharon Springs, and advised him that he had been indicted on one count of detaining and delaying U.S. mail.

The indictment alleges Brown discarded mail intended for delivery in the Syracuse area during the first seven months of 2019.

Brown was arraigned Monday and released pending further court action.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Syracuse did not indicate why the mail was discarded.
