Surgeon General Issues Dire Warning to U.S.
On CBS this morning, the Surgeon General of the United States delivered a warning to the country at large.
I didn't expect to be starting off my week with such a dire message for America, but the numbers are going to get worse this week. Things are going to get worse before they get better. And we really need everyone to understand this is serious, to lean into what they can do to flatten the curve.
This warning comes as the global case count rises above 350,000, with no signs of slowing in the United States in particular.
The main reason for the uninhibited spread has been the lack of disciplined social distancing shown in general. That is the easiest and most effective way that everyone and anyone can work together to stop the spread.
"We can't ventilate our way out of this problem," he said. "We need to make sure that, in addition to getting supplies to people, that we're really focusing on … getting people out of the streets.
