SUNY Oneonta Closed After 105 Students Test Positive for COVID-19

In-person classes on the SUNY Oneonta campus have been suspended for two weeks because more than 100 students have tested positive for the coronavirus.

SUNY chancellor Jim Malatras Sunday announced the decision to shut down the campus and switch to online classes.

The move came after an order was issued to test all Oneonta students following reports of a large number of large gatherings and parties.

Malatras said five SUNY Oneonta students have been suspended for hosting big parties in violation of the pandemic rules.

The state health department has provided eight case investigators and 70 contact tracers in an effort to identify those who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
