A Tioga County man is facing a number of charges including weapon and drug possession counts following a traffic stop in Nichols.

New York State Police say the pulled a car over for an equipment violation at around 2:30 a.m. August 28 and found the passenger had a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen as well as several narcotics.

61-year-old Chuck Weigand of Spencer is charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property as well as criminal possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Troopers say a subsequent search of Weigand;s home and car turned up suspected crystal methamphetamine, acetaminophen and hydrocodone as well as a digital scale, drug paraphernalia and packaging material in addition to a loaded revolver, ammunition and brass knuckles.

Weigland was sent to the Tioga County Jail without bail.

State Police are continuing their investigation and say more arrests are possible.

The driver of the car was ticked for driving without a license.
