Southern Tier Fire Company Hosts Bingo, BBQ, and Gun Bingo

If you love bingo, good food, and supporting your local community, the Great Bend Hose Company #1 has a lineup of fundraisers this spring that you won’t want to miss. Jim Canfield, assistant fire chief and volunteer with Great Bend Hose Company #1, reached out with a pretty straightforward message for us to share with you: come out, have some fun, and help support the people who show up when our community needs them most.

Your Wednesday Nights Just Got More Fun

If you’re looking for a fun mid-week outing, Wednesday nights at the fire station are where it’s at. Doors open at 5 p.m., so you have plenty of time to settle in, grab your cards, and find your lucky seat. Games kick off at 6:30 p.m., and you’ll get 27 rounds of bingo along with pull tabs if you want to mix things up. It’s the kind of night where you’ll run into familiar faces, enjoy a little friendly competition, and know that every card you buy is going toward something that really matters.

Grab a Plate at the April Chicken BBQ

Mark your calendar for April 26; the department is firing up the grills for a Chicken BBQ fundraiser. Dinner runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $15 for a full meal. With about 500 dinners planned, it’s going to be a busy afternoon, so get there early if you can. It’s a great excuse to get out of the house, enjoy a home-cooked meal, and shake hands with the volunteers who drop everything when your 911 call comes in.

Something a Little Different: Gun Bingo in May

Another fundraiser already on the calendar is a Gun Bingo scheduled for May 31. Held right at the fire station, it’s shaping up to draw a solid crowd of people who want a little more excitement than your average Wednesday night game.

Here’s Why Your Support Makes a Real Difference

Every dollar raised at these events goes straight back into the department, and right now, that money is going toward something big. Great Bend Hose Company #1 is expecting delivery of a brand-new rescue pumper tanker truck in late May 2026. For a volunteer department that runs on community support, equipment like that is a game-changer, and events like these are how they make it happen.

All three events are held at the Great Bend Hose Company #1 fire station at 54 Tannery Street, Great Bend, Pennsylvania. Whether you show up for bingo on a Wednesday, swing by for a plate of BBQ in April, or come out for Gun Bingo in May, the volunteers at Great Bend Hose Company #1 are just glad to see you walk through the door.
