Southern Tier Bridges and Culverts Get Rehab. Money
The Southern Tier region of New York is getting $28 million to fix compromised bridges and crumbling culverts.
Among the over half-dozen projects in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Tioga and Tompkins Counties, the “BRIDGE NY” program is to channel $3.3 million into replacing the Main Street Bridge over Big Choconut Creek in Vestal and $4-point-four million into replacing the Old Route 10 bridge over Cold Spring Creek in Delaware County.
Other bridge projects in Broome County are the rehabilitation of County Road 20 over Main Street in Kirkwood and replacement of the Hawkins Road culvert in the Town of Sanford.
Chenango County is getting close to a million dollars to replace the County Route 10A culvert while the Town of Sherburne is getting $994,000 to replace the Pleasant Valley Road Culvert.
Candor will be able to replace the Prospect Valley Road Bridge over Prospect Valley Creek in Tioga County with two million dollars in funding.
Tompkins County is getting close to $3.7 million to replace the County Road 146 bridge over Taughannock Creek and almost $1.4 million for the Town of Dryden to replace the Genung Road bridge over Cascadilla Creek.
In all, the state is awarding 216-point-two million dollars in enhanced assistance for 88 local governments to rehabilitate and replace bridges and culverts across New York.
