On March 1, the team at Small Addictions RC received news that turned their world upside down: a large regional company was buying out the final three years of their lease.

Just like that, they were given six months to find a new location and vacate by September 1. It was a complete surprise, and the short timeline didn’t leave much room to process, let alone plan.

Staying Local Was Non-Negotiable

One thing was never up for debate: Small Addictions RC wanted to remain a part of the greater Binghamton community. They immediately started searching every available lease space that might work for their unique needs. But none of the properties checked all the boxes. And after what had just happened, signing another lease didn’t feel like the secure, long-term solution they needed.

Time for a Long Term Solution

So, they pivoted. Instead of leasing again, the team decided to take a big step and buy their own building. This way, they could create a space perfectly tailored to their business and ensure they wouldn’t be caught off guard again. The search led them to a place with local nostalgia, and a lot of potential.

Say Hello to the Former Sunset Lanes

Small Addictions RC is proud to announce they’re purchasing the former Sunset Lanes Bowling Center on Route 11 in Kirkwood, New York. It’s just eight minutes south of their current location and still on the same road. The building has good bones, but it’s going to take a fair bit of work to bring it up to the high standards their customers are used to.

A Work in Progress, But Worth the Wait

Transforming a bowling alley into the next home for Small Addictions RC isn’t a small task. There will be construction, improvements, and some growing pains along the way.

The first few months after opening in the new location might be hectic, but the team is committed to making each day better than the last and to providing an even greater shopping experience in the long run.
