This sounds like a really bad cheese joke, but it’s not. Wisconsin is now using cheese to thaw their roads.

Wisconsin, one of the largest cheese producing states has started to cut their rock salt with cheese brine from mozzarella and provolone products.

Apparently doing this is incredibly cost effective for the government and the companies that donate the brine.

Since 2009, Polk County, near Minnesota, has saved $40,000 on rock salt using the briny, anti-icing mixture. Plus, using less rock salt means less salt pollution in state waterways.

They’re cutting costs, but not the cheese. Wait. What? This is why I leave the bad joke telling to Glenn.
