Same Fall Treats, Just New Tricks
Few things can top the fall season and the treats that come with it. There is of course the craziness behind the Pumpkin Spices trend. Which don’t get me wrong is still delicious, but has seem to go off the rails with the creation of Pumpkin Spice dog treats. There was even a fake ad for Pumpkin Spice Toilet Paper floating around Facebook. All be it a prank, it shows how crazy we have become for the unique flavor.
The fall and Halloween season also brings us some classic candies getting a creative twist. My favorite twist is definitely the Reese’s Peanut Butter cup becoming a pumpkin. I am convinced that you actually get more peanut butter and chocolate in the pumpkin form than the classic cup.
Skittles is bringing back a special candy this fall as well. It’s called Cauldron Skittles and is only available for a limited time. It features classic flavors alongside tangerine and pear, but mixes the colors up. So a yellow Skittle may taste like grape or a purple Skittle may taste like lemon. This could actually be a funny trick to play on someone and watch their reaction.
Fall also brings the apple cider season. Whether it’s hot, cold, or spiked apple cider is a great fall time treat. I am counting down the days that I can finally get out to the Cider Mill in Endicott to enjoy those delicious apple cider donuts. I can confidently say I can eat about thirty of those things in one sitting.
With all these treats making their way back into our kitchens and stomachs, there is one candy I need to address. Candy Corn has been given a bad reputation over the last few years. In my opinion, it is such a classic treat that there should be no debate on how delicious it is. I am taking it upon myself to lead the crusade to help people like Candy Corn once again. And if you’re counting calories this holiday season, just keep saying its real corn to yourself.
