It's hard to believe that it was one year ago today, January 26th, 2020 that Kobe Bryant along with eight other passengers died when his private helicopter crashed. At the time, we thought that would be the biggest news of 2020.

So after a year, what have we learned from his death? For me, it has NOTHING to do with him being a basketball legend. Legends are replaced by another legend...like Lebron James.

When we heard of Kobe's passing, we all took a moment and vowed that we would cherish those around us. We would let our loved ones know how much we care because it can all be over in an instant.

Every morning before I go to work, I pause outside of my daughter's bedroom door, listen to them sleep, and say a prayer for them. For a couple of days after Kobe's death, I would stand by the door a little longer, thanking God for them.

I promised myself that I would do that every morning before I left for the day. By next week, I would still stop by their door but not for a long and sometimes do a "fly-by" prayer for them because I was a few minutes behind.

How soon I forgot, what about you? On this one year anniversary, I'm reminded of something I read once. "Love your life and tell people you love them. Live your life to make the best story you can."

When Kobe passed, so many people told their stories about him and what a difference he made in their lives. So today I would ask you this: Tell the people in your life, what a difference they've made.

Don't wait until your standing over the coffin to let them know. Letting them know TODAY, could actually be the difference that they need in their lives right now.
