Should I have to write an article about properly disposing personal protective wear? Really, is this where we need to go? Unfortunately, the answer is Yes.

Have you seen it in your travels? Lying on a sidewalk, grocery store shopping carts and parking lots. I'm talking about disposable gloves, disinfectant wipes and face masks.

How hard is it to properly dispose of those items? Not hard at all. People do this with with every other disposable item. Well, most do. I've seen some roadways that continue to be littered with garbage.

According to The Detroit Free Press, the state of Michigan is fining persons who do not properly dispose their facial masks, gloves and wipes. It's not just a litter issue, it's a health hazard as well. That should be a no-brainer, but I guess a few people who litter  may not have a...

What's the fine you ask? The Detroit Free Press reports "As much as 225 dollars, but the cost could vary." The article goes on to say anyone who cleans it up a mask, wipe or glove, could become exposed to the virus. How true.

I've run across it already in parking lots and a couple of times in shopping cart return areas. Someone has to clean it up, and that's just not right. Maybe New York State should also impose a fine.
