July 4th is on a Sunday this year and it's nice to be able to celebrate our Independence all weekend long. It's supposed to be our most patriotic day and it feels like it's been under assault recently.

The country is more split than ever and it seems like people are interested in dividing us rather than coming together. It's hard for us to find common ground with each other and that's not good.

Who would have ever thought that there would be controversy over saying the "Pledge of Allegiance" and having the flag in every schoolroom? Some states are doing it and people are protesting it.

Pride In America

Pride in our country is at a new low...again. We've gone through a lot in the last year and a half and it's getting harder to freely express ourselves. I try to remind my friends that the LOUDEST voices aren't necessarily the correct voices.

I've encouraged them to stop watching the national news all the time. I've said it before and I'll say it again...again. Check the news quickly and get out. The media tries to engage me and all I'm getting is a headache.

I still love the United States of America, even with all of its faults. It's still the greatest country on earth and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. So for the July 4th weekend, take the time to enjoy the freedom that we have, even if we don't have as much as we used to.

We are still free to let our voices be heard.
