Power Dumps on Upper Front Street During Morning Commute Time
A big power outage causes headache for businesses and morning travelers in the Towns of Chenango and Dickinson.
Broome County Emergency Services officials say their facility just South of the SUNY Broome Community College campus automatically switched to generator power as electricity went out on an expansive stretch of Upper Front Street at 7:20 a.m. January 20.
Authorities said an immediate assessment indicated a transformer may have blown on Castle Creek Road.
Power was said to be out from about Route 12A in the Town of Chenango to the B.C.C. campus in the Town of Dickinson.
The outage impacts not only the campus and businesses along the route but also traffic on the highly traveled roadway as several traffic lights are located along Route 11.
