This weekend is the New York State "Path Through History Weekend" with hundreds of events happening at historic and cultural destinations throughout this great state. Once again this year, the Nanticoke Valley Historical Society will be participating.

They'll be hosting events in their museum buildings on Saturday and Sunday, June 16th and 17th. It'll go from 1 to 4 p.m. with an exhibit of paintings, artifacts and life stories from Maine Central Schools.

The great part is that you'll be able to go through all of the Museum Buildings and get a guided tour. The buildings are all in the Town of Maine and located at the following:

Nanticoke Valley Historical Society Janet W Bowers Museum, 13 Nanticoke Rd. Schoolhouse Number 4, 14 Nanticoke Rd. and Pitcher’s Mill, 2819 NYS RTE 26.

The Janet W. Bowers Museum Gallery will be showing paintings that were commissioned in 1939 that were to hang in the Maine Central School (later named J. Ralph Ingalls School) and the Union Center Elementary School.

The museum’s Middle Gallery will display "Class Reunion" photographs of alumni and faculty through the years and artifacts pertaining to the history of the schools and the people whose life stories began in the Nanticoke Valley.

These events are open to all and admission is FREE. Go here to find out more about the Nanticoke Valley Historical Society and any upcoming events.
