Outgoing Binghamton Mayor Announces OurSpace Arson Reward
In one of his last actions as Mayor of the City of Binghamton, Richard David announced a reward for information leading to the arrest of the arsonist that destroyed an all-inclusive playground on the west side of the city over a year-and-a-half ago.

$5,000 is being put up by the City to try to catch the person or people responsible for burning down the OurSpace playground at Recreation Park in the early morning hours of June 1, 2020.
There had been a peaceful demonstration at the park as part of the Black Lives Matter movement the day before but there has been no indication that that activity had anything to do with the fire that engulfed much of the specialized playground equipment hours later in the darkness of night.
The OurSpace playground had been completed four years earlier and was a popular attraction for all families but particularly those with family members with physical and other challenges.
“I had hoped that before my term was up, someone would have come forward because it’s the right thing to do.”
The Republican said he believed it was important to hold those involved responsible and bring closure to the case.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Binghamton Police Detectives at (607) 772-7080.
