At last count, Tenney was a little over two dozen votes ahead in her quest to win back the seat she lost to Brindisi two years ago.

Elections officials say some of the challenges to some of the individual ballots had been withdrawn by one or both campaigns recently as issues were either found to be valid or invalid.

With Oneida’s 500 or so votes still under review, it still could be into next week before a winner is named.

Meanwhile, President Trump referenced the contested ballots in the Southern Tier and Central New York as he was stumping for the Republican candidates in Georgia’s U.S. Senate runoff election saying the New York race is more of what he sees as proof of Democratic elections-shenanigans.
