Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on April 15th that masks and face coverings needed to be worn in public and in situations where social distancing is difficult. For the most part, people have followed that requirement. Although there are a few that just don't get it.

I was at the grocery store on Saturday and there was a guy, probably in his mid-fifties, walking the wrong way up and down the isles without a mask on. There were signs at the front door telling shoppers that they had to wear some kind of face-covering to enter the store. Maybe this dude couldn't read, didn't notice the sign, or quite frankly didn't care about following the rules the rest of us were following. I did hear another shopper ask him where his mask was...he didn't respond and basically ignored them.

So maybe we need to drive home the point that we still need to wear masks to protect ourselves and more importantly to protect others.

That's where a new contest announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo comes in. According to www.nyup.com, it was suggested by his daughter, Mariah Kennedy Cuomo. The contest asks New Yorkers to create an original 30-second video encouraging people to wear masks in public.

Video entries need to be less than 30 seconds and should show the proper way to wear a mask. Videos must be submitted by May 15th. The top five videos will be posted and New Yorkers can vote for their favorite.

To submit your video upload it to social media and use the tag #NewYorkTough, @nygcuomo, and @GovernorAndrewCuomo

The winning video will be used as a Public Service Announcement and you'll get all the fame and glory that comes with it.
