This is for all of of the cheese lovers out there. From grilled cheese sandwiches to the stringy goodness of pizza toppings, cheese plays a big role in many of our favorite dishes. But have you ever wondered what cheese reigns supreme in other parts of the country?

The Wagyu Shop recently looked into the world of popular cheeses, analyzing Google Trends to find each state's top pick. New York’s cheese aficionados have spoken and their favorite is the melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella!

According to the study by casino.ca, Mozzarella emerged as the top choice in 17 states, including the Empire State, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Known for its creamy texture, milky flavor, and slight saltiness, this Italian cheese has captured the hearts (and taste buds) of many New Yorkers.

Nino The Mozz Man, a familiar face in the tri-state area, shared his thoughts on why Mozzarella has become a favorite for so many. "It’s creamy and milky and salty...That’s why it’s a favorite. I don’t know if I met anyone that didn’t like it." .

While Mozzarella is king in New York, the survey also shed light on other cheesy preferences across the nation. Cheddar took the crown as the favored cheese in 24 states, known for its familiarity and versatile uses in a variety of dishes.

On the flip side, Brie found itself on the receiving end of skepticism, with 23 states agreeing it was the most overrated cheese. Cheese expert Kristine Jannuzzi, aka @nyccheesechick, shared insights on why this French variety falls short of expectations.

So whether you're indulging in a Margherita pizza or savoring a caprese salad, remember to thank the tantalizing taste of mozzarella – New York's cheesy champion!
