Over 85% of people in New York own a dog (including me) and you know that means.  There are many people in New York that have an opinion on what the best breed of dog is. Of course, the correct answer is Jack Russell Terrier but what do the citizens of the Empire State say?

The Dog Advisory Council wanted to find out what breed of dog was most popular in each state. They got data from Google searches and the American Kennel Club's list of popular breeds. They crunched numbers to find the top five most popular breeds in New York are. I already know what the #1 answer should be but let's find out for sure.

Top 5 Dog Brands in New York

1) The most popular dog in New York is...The Boxer. Hmmm, apparently New Yorkers can't get enough of this affectionate and playful pup. They're family-friendly, especially when they've been around kids and other animals since they were puppies.

2) The second most popular dog is the Cane Corso. They may look tough with their big heads and strong muscles, but they're real softies on the inside. They're like the bodyguards of the dog world, they protect their family and want to make them happy.

3) The Shiba Inu takes the bronze as the third most popular breed in New York, with around 49,500 monthly Google searches. Known for their affection and alertness, Shiba Inu make great guard dogs for families.

4) The French Bulldog also has the same number of monthly Google searches as the Shiba Inu at around 49,500. French Bulldogs are small, adorable dogs that are loved for their friendly and easygoing nature.

5) Last but not least, the Australian Shepherd also has around 49,500 monthly searches. Australian Shepherds are known for their smarts and high energy levels, making them great working and companion dogs.

So, if you're in New York and thinking about getting a dog, these are the breeds that people can't stop searching for on Google. My favorite breed (Jack Russell Terrier) didn't make this list but they are #1 in my heart.
