Did you know that New York is one of the states with a large number of fatal crashes involving learner drivers? New York isn't on the top of the list, but it ranks seventh in terms of the percentage of fatal crashes involving learner drivers.

Between 2017 and 2021, there was almost 7,000 fatal crashes in the Empire State, out of which 89 involved a learner driver. This puts New York at a 1.29% rating for crashes involving learners.

The most dangerous state is Kentucky with a 2.21% of crashes involving learner drivers. Between 2017 and 2021, the Bluegrass State saw 5,392 fatal crashes, with 119 of them involving a learner driver.

Just behind Kentucky is Massachusetts, coming in second with 1.78% of fatal crashes involving learner drivers. It had a total of 2,466 crashes, out of which 44 involved someone with a learner's permit.

On the flip side, West Virginia is the safest state for learner drivers. Surprisingly, between 2017 and 2021, there were 1,911 crashes in West Virginia, but none of them involved a learner driver.

New York does better than several other states in terms of learner driver safety. Alaska, Vermont, Alabama, Connecticut, and Texas all have a higher percentage of fatal crashes involving learners compared to New York. But being seventh on the list still serve as a wake-up call for New Yorkers who are learning to drive.

So, if you're a learner driver in New York, take extra care on the roads. Remember, it's not just about getting from point A to point B. It's about making sure we all arrive safely. Remember, someone will miss you if you're gone.
